Preschool Spots Still Available
It is not too late to sign your child up for Iowa’s free four-year-old preschool in a Dubuque Community School District school or at a community partner preschool for the 2016-2017 school year.
To be eligible, students must be Iowa residents and must turn four years old on or before September 15, 2016.
The following district preschool classrooms still have openings: Audubon, Bryant, Fulton, Hoover, Irving, Lincoln, Prescott, Sageville, and Table Mound.
To enroll, visit any of these elementary schools or a community partner preschool. Students may attend preschool at any school and homeschool boundaries do not apply.
Sageville Teacher Honored by President Obama
Sageville Elementary School Math Teacher Ann Johnson was among 213 mathematics and science teachers honored by President Obama as recipients of the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. These awardees represent all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Territories, and the Department of Defense Education Activity schools. Johnson, and the other educators honored, will receive their awards at a ceremony in Washington, DC on September 8.

Senior Renovation Breaks Ground
A $30 million renovation of Dubuque Senior High School broke ground on August 9, officially kicking off the two-year renovation that will add a new main entrance, administrative offices, student commons, cafeteria, gymnasium and classroom addition to the school.

Senior Renovation Groundbreaking, Aug. 9
With the School Board expected to approve the Dubuque Senior High School Renovation Project at its meeting tonight, a groundbreaking ceremony for a $30 million renovation is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 8 a.m.
Hull to Become Next Table Mound Elementary School Principal
At its July meeting, the Dubuque Community School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Matthew Hull as the new principal of Table Mound Elementary School beginning in the 2016-2017 school year. Hull is currently the instructional coach at Fulton Elementary School, a role he has held since 2009.
As principal of Table Mound, Hull will be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day operations of the school, which serves approximately 420 students and almost 60 professional and support staff.

Senior/Hempstead Baseball Game Moved to Senior Today (July 7)
The Dubuque Senior High School vs. Hempstead High School baseball games scheduled for today, Thursday, July 7, have been moved to Senior due to field conditions. The sophomore game will begin at 3 p.m. with varsity to follow.
