About Donna Loewen
Donna is a veteran educator, with 30 years combined as elementary teacher, K-12 School-to-Work coordinator, and elementary principal in Dubuque, and 12 years at Loras College in admissions, career planning, adult/continuing education, graduate division, summer session and service-learning positions. She retooled after retirement in 2018 to coordinate the Dubuque College Access Network (DCAN) within the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. Donna brings extensive community involvement to her work with a variety of community leaders/partners seeking to strengthen equity through support for low-income, first generation and students of color aspiring to, enrolling in and attaining postsecondary education and training.
Dr. Loewen earned her B.A. at Loras College, her M.A. at Clarke College, and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education at The University of Iowa. She exemplifies lifelong learning, currently engaging in College- and Career-Readiness Academy courses through the Iowa College Aid Commission.
