Summer Academy
The Dubuque Community School District will offer a Summer Academy for ALL STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN FIRST GRADE during 2024-2025 school year.
The Summer Academy is a FREE learning experience designed to give students a reading-focused enrichment program.
THE PROGRAM
Reading instruction is delivered Monday through Friday mornings by certified district teachers. In addition to fun and engaging reading instruction, optional enrichment activities will be offered in the afternoons to keep kids involved in learning — all because we believe students immersed in learning are positioned to be better readers. Activities are provided by these community partners (and more!):
- Carnegie-Stout Public Library
- City of Dubuque Parks and Recreation Department
- City of Dubuque Police and Fire Departments
- Dubuque County Conservation
- Dubuque County Farm Bureau
- Iowa State University Extension and Outreach
- National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium

Literacy instruction (includes FREE breakfast and lunch!)

Pick-up for morning-only students

THE LOCATIONS
Students will attend one of two Summer Academy locations, based on the school they currently attend. All Summer Academy classrooms will be air conditioned!
Prescott Elementary School
for students who attend Audubon, Carver, Eisenhower, Marshall, Prescott or Sageville Elementary School
Table Mound Elementary School
for students who attend Bryant, Hoover, Irving, Kennedy, Lincoln or Table Mound Elementary School
THE FOOD
FREE breakfast and lunch will be provided to all Summer Academy attendees!
THE SCHOOL BUS
FREE transportation on the district’s yellow school buses will be available at express stops throughout the community.
